Since early days of history textiles are present as an engineered material, an intelligent human construction. In a similar way, man has devised composite materials, that wisely combine two distinct material to generate a new material whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. Today’s composite materials combine technical textiles with polymers, for outstanding properties serving numerous industries. Standard applications of composites require the use of  moulds, not relying on the unique capacity of textile to self organise into complex forms, under simple manipulations and minimal efforts (pleating, folding, stretching, cutting, sawing etc..)

The artwork freezes the ruffling action over the fabric, generating a complex dynamic surface. The red embroidery thread, inserted in the technical frozen textile of the prepreg, serves as the structural basis for a careful manual manipulation of the fabric, to create a differentiated surface of variations, a topography of varying intensities, shadows and rhythms. The surface hints for possible future applications in the field of design and architecture.
